What’s up with Crazy Sock Week?

Complexity of the foot is evident; 26 bones, 19 large muscles and more than 100 ligaments make up the structure of the foot.

Good foot mechanics are essential for everyone. In our modern society we have perhaps become too reliant on shoes to assist in daily support for movement.

In the Brooklyn class we therefore occasionally do class barefoot. The chilly winter weather and needing to keep our feet warm as well was the inspiration behind our Crazy Sock Week this June.

Our barefoot classes promote awareness of the importance of foot health and stimulate muscles to perform in a different manner.

Toe flexion, toe extension, inversion, eversion and plantar and dorsi flexion exercises to the uplifting rhythms provided much fun and laughter for in our winter class.

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.
