ANGER!

Oct 1, 2021 | Teacher's Corner

ANGER! It is a horrible word as we do not want to feel this way at any time. Mostly though when someone has given us a reason to be reactive and get angry we would probably eventually calm down when the situation is resolved. During this period with the ongoing pandemic I think people are “angry” most days because of how life feels and what we are dealing with. In this situation we have to help ourselves control this anger.

Here are a few tips for dealing with Anger

Allow yourself to feel Angry

Think about why you are angry

  • Think about why you are Angry
  • What is it I am angry about?
  • What triggers my anger?
  • How does my anger impact me and others around me?
  • Who do I direct my anger at and why?
  • How do I respond when I am angry?

Be Kind to Yourself

  • Show understanding

Vent your Feelings

  • But to the RIGHT person/resource

Plan to talk to the person(s) you are angry with

  • At the right time under the right conditions

Creative pressure relieves valves

  • Scream
  • Talk to a friend
  • Write it down
  • Physical activity – get moving

Please do NOT let this build up like a pressure cooker. Be good to yourself.

Laughing is the best exercise
